Snowy trains

Yes, I'm alive

Haven't been posting on here as much as I'd have liked to, so have this nice pair of pics I snapped at the tail end of my Thanksgiving travel this past Sunday.

I took Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited back from my folks on the east coast (though I had to substitute a bus between NYC and Albany since the train was sold out), and I just got off the connecting bus from Toledo earlier that morning. We arrived around 10 am, ~20 minutes before Amtrak Wolverine 353 was supposed to pull in (and ~1hr 20min late from my bus's scheduled arrival), so I figured I'd wait around and catch it coming in. Came in about 20 minutes late, so I ended waiting about 40 minutes for these shots, but it was worth it IMO. Also, an old friend was tacked on the rear; Amtrak #55 was the same locomotive that took me to Chicago the Tuesday prior to start my travel.

AMTK 55 picking me up the previous Tuesday (11/25) as train 351. A rare sight to see a P42DC leading on the Michigan Line these days, but the new SC-44s (one of which is pictured above) don't have the best reliability in cold weather...

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and has a great holiday season coming up! I'm about to enter performance hell myself: 4 barbershop chorus performances and a concert band concert within the next week and a half. Wish me luck! 😅

Hopefully I'll be more consistent about posting here. I have a few different trips I've yet to report on, so stay tuned. Happy holidays!
